My name is Amy Walker and I love gardening, however I didn't always feel that way. In my suburban yard I dabbled in flower gardening, but it took leaving the corporate life and moving to the country to develop that love. As a result I get a thrill planting a seed and watching it sprout and grow, eventually producing a beautiful bloom or produce that I preserve and serve on my table.
My garden is my happy place and my favorite is to go out in the early morning just after sunrise. At that time it is still shaded and cool, with only the sound of the birds and occasional grazing cows.
It is a good thing I am in the country because sometimes I sing while tending my vegetable garden, thus the name of this blog – I go to the garden. It is based on one of my favorite hymns. The words of that hymn reflect my morning garden experience as the chorus says – And He walks with me and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own. No matter how the crazy the world can be around me, in the quietness of my garden I receive His assurance, wise counsel, peace, as well as a basket of fruits, vegetables and flowers.
Join me as I go to the garden,
Amy
